Abstract

Introduction. One of the pedagogical challenges of higher education is to improve the teaching-learning processes in favor of the integral formation of the student. To this end, several proposals have emerged that seek to provide teachers with the appropriate didactic strategies, however, it has been observed that some of them prioritize the styles of each teacher and not of the students. The VAK model (visual, auditory and kinesthetic) guides the knowledge of the dominant perceptual channel in each student, in order to establish proposals that prioritize the needs of each one. Objetive. To determine the predominant perceptual channel in undergraduate students of the bachelor’s degree in nursing at a higher education institution in the state of Oaxaca during the period October 2022 and February 2023. Method. Quantitative study of descriptive scope in which the “Questionnaire to identify the type of predominant perceptual intelligence” was applied to 59 students enrolled in the last year of the bachelor’s degree in nursing. Results. Most of the students who participated in the research reported using the kinesthetic perceptual channel (f=34; 62%), followed by the visual (f=15; 28%) and auditory (f=7; 13%) channels. Only 6% of the sample uses two perceptual channels simultaneously. Conclusion. Based on the findings, proposals are established that are based on the predominant perceptual channels, since the importance of didactic strategies in the training of human resources in nursing for teachers inside and outside universities, as well as in first, second and third level health care institutions, was analyzed.
