Palliative Care as the Basis for the Good Dying Process; from a Bioethics Perspective

Abstract

Suffering in the face of death from disease without any life expectancy is a matter for everyone in society, especially those who are going through this process. This is why palliative care plays an important role in dealing with this great problem, since it seeks to improve the quality of life not only of the patient, but also of the family nucleus, where the treatment of pain is involved, as well as the physical, psychological and spiritual problems that may arise from the disease. Given this situation, it is important to consider at all times the principles of bioethics for the poyo in decision-making concerning the respect of the rights and dignity of patients during their process of deterioration, thus avoiding treating it as an object.
