Healthy Organizations: an approach to their study

Abstract

Healthy organizations (HO) are an emerging model in human resources management that has been developed from different disciplines, showing commonalities in the benefits that are reported to the worker, the organization and its partners. This work, in a first stage, provides a conceptual model of OS. The analysis of different models was used to build a comprehensive model on the subject. The model was designed to frame the actions in terms of organizational health. A Healthy Organisation (HO) is one characterised by the systematic, planned and co-responsible development of programmes for quality of life at work, health promotion and protection, healthy coexistence to achieve a positive impact on organizational effectiveness, employee health and community wellbeing, aligning structural and cultural elements and organizational leadership.
