Abstract

Chronic cholecystitis is generated when multiple cases of cholecystitis have been presented, showing mucosal atrophy and thickening of the gallbladder wall. It is alithiasic when the inflammatory process occurs in the absence of stone, which in turn is related to infectious processes, burns, abdominal trauma, sepsis, pulmonary thromboembolism, dehydration, heart disease or Diabetes Mellitus (DM). The latter generates a sub- diagnosed complication called diabetic neuropathy that develops changes at the intestinal level and at the gallbladder level. Changes such as incomplete emptying or decreased ejected volume in the postprandial state, as well as histological changes that lead to the development of cholecystitis. It is important to take into account the patient’s medical history, background, previous treatments and the clinical portrait supported by laboratory and research studies to intervene in a timely manner. The clinical case of a 50-year-old male patient with long-standing diabetes, chronic alithiasic cholecystitis, and pyocolecisto as a complication.
